Towns

Sat down and was having fun with it for hours and hours and i slowly dwindled to 6 townies... but no matter what the further i got they would not get any happiness... It is infuriating. Turns out they require time off but giving them time off isn't enough... If they have too much time off they get mad as if overworked.

Now this would be all fine and dandy but there is no way to assign time off so you have to balance their work production in a way that it forces them idle.. Yea... It's like micromanaging without micromanaging.

Needless to say i couldn't get any more townies to reinforce my population since they are more sterile than an undead lich who had ether-wind blasted to the testicles. Yes i have the option of spending a lot of time fixing their happiness to balance it better or restarting (which given the time i spent might seem like the longer road but i was albeit still learning the difference between towns and DF)

It's not that the game is bad but after sitting through this all it does is make me want to play Dwarf Fortress in it's stead.

Oh and storage barrels. >.< You need hundreds of them and have to manually configure them all.... Regardless of stockpile configurations.... Without a way to relay settings via preset... Or from other barrels... Setting priority on what stockpile townies go to is not simple or even realistic if you screw up and don't take it into account beforehand (again... barrels...) so townies WILL drop items on the ground if their pathing decides it can't realistically make it across the map to your stockpile (the one sitting right next to the tree/mine? HAHAHAHA... No.)

My cat does that too. I think my cat is one to be blamed for Elona's bugs :P

Sorry on bursting your bubble, but breeding has been a trouble in DF for me only because it happens TOO MUCH!
For full of children, who get kidnapped and cause tantrum spirals....

Barrels? You can start the game with 50+ of them without spending too much points (each different food items starts with its own barrel) and never had to assign them (different for bins though).

Anyways, how much FUN have you had so far? :3

It wasn't a comparison TO Dwarf Fortress, there are no bins in Towns. You get 10 item limit storage barrels for use of reducing clutter and townies WILL run something to the other side of the map if you have a barrel that is flagged to store this item instead of storing it in the barrel 3 feet from them specifically for this item. This results in them getting mad, storing the one item then going to eat and going to bed. or them deciding to instead do another task never storing the item to begin with and to drop the task only to pick it up later and not finish it later.

What this means is you have to disallow the workers from EVER depositing items into barrels until you set... Look they make dorf's look like rocket scientists.

Also while there is a guard function villagers practically double as soldiers (i think there are profession skills intended but not implemented) so army invades and towniemcchef promptly dispatches entire invasion with stone spear and goes back to baking. (this isn't a complaint, they are living on the surface so no elaborate dwarf defenses. you just asked about FUN)

The storage thing is preeeety annoying but the happiness system is a dealbreaker. The worse you manage it the more your forced to micromanage every townie instead of focusing on building or exploring.

I have a solution for all of this and it ends in one word.
